1. Project Overview & On-site Difficulties

This is a large-scale suburban and farm road lighting project in southern Chile, fully equipped with 300 sets of GCOTS JD40W split solar street lights. The project covers extensive suburban arterial roads, farm access roads and rural connecting roads, serving local residential suburbs, pasture lands and agricultural planting areas. The unique temperate oceanic humid climate and off-grid rural road conditions in southern Chile bring multiple harsh challenges for long-term stable operation of outdoor solar lighting equipment.

Main site challenges:

Most suburban and farm roads are not covered by municipal power grids; traditional wired lighting requires road excavation and cable laying, causing high construction costs and long construction cycles.

Southern Chile features distinct seasonal differences. The winter season brings frequent overcast, rainy and foggy days with insufficient effective sunlight, easily leading to insufficient power storage and affecting night lighting duration.

The local area has year-round high humidity and occasional winter frost. The humid and foggy environment tends to cause internal condensation, circuit corrosion and shell aging of ordinary street lights, shortening service life.

Roads stretch across open suburban zones and scattered farmlands, with partial shading from farm fences, low vegetation and valley terrain, resulting in unstable solar power generation efficiency.

Suburban and farm road networks are widely distributed with scattered installation points, putting forward high requirements for simple installation and low daily maintenance of lighting equipment.

2. GCOTS Targeted Customized Solution

Instead of standard universal solar lights, GCOTS adopted a fully climate and terrain-adapted customized solution based on the actual conditions of Chile’s suburban and farm roads to solve all local lighting pain points.

2.1 Terrain-Adaptive Adjustable Installation Layout

Benefiting from the professional split design of JD40W solar street lights, the solar panel and lamp body are independently installed. We customized different installation angles and lamp spacing for open suburban straight roads and sheltered farm branch roads respectively. The adjustable bracket design effectively makes up for insufficient sunlight absorption caused by valley terrain and partial shading, ensuring stable power generation throughout the year.

2.2 Low-light and rain/fog resistant battery configuration

To address the local winter's rainy, foggy, and low-light conditions, we provided automotive-grade power batteries for this project. The optimized battery and controller system can support stable lighting for 2-3 days in rainy and foggy weather, perfectly adapting to the unique climate of the southern suburbs and farmland areas of Chile.

2.3 High-Humidity Anti-Corrosion & Anti-Condensation Protection

All lamps adopt full IP65 waterproof, dustproof and moisture-proof structure. The upgraded sealing design effectively avoids internal condensation caused by perennial high humidity. The anti-aging and anti-corrosion surface coating resists long-term erosion of fog, moisture and farm dust, preventing shell fading, rust and circuit failure, and realizing all-weather stable operation in complex suburban and farm environments.

2.4 Zero-Wiring Fast Deployment for Scattered Road Networks

The off-grid solar power supply design requires no cable laying or road damage. The JD40W solar street lights can be quickly fixed on prefabricated foundations, greatly shortening the construction cycle. It perfectly adapts to the scattered distribution characteristics of Chile’s suburban roads and farm access roads, saving a lot of labor and material costs for the project.

3. Project Delivery & Operational Achievements

The entire Chile suburban and farm road solar lighting project has been fully completed and officially put into operation. The targeted customized solution accurately solves local industry pain points such as insufficient winter light, high humidity corrosion, scattered road layout and difficult grid construction.

The installed 300 sets of JD40W solar street lights provide uniform, high-brightness and stable full-coverage night lighting for local suburban traffic roads and farm transport passages. It effectively solves the problems of dim road vision and inconvenient night travel for residents and farmers, guarantees the safety of crop transportation, pasture management and daily night travel.

Relying on pure solar off-grid power supply, the project achieves zero electricity bills and zero carbon emissions, helping Chile’s suburban and rural agricultural areas upgrade green and low-carbon infrastructure. The stable all-weather operation performance has been highly recognized by local clients.
