1. Project Overview & Local Environmental Challenges
This is a medium-sized solar street light renovation project in a rural community of Sri Lanka, deploying 1,200 GCOTS SL-CY15 split-type solar street lights. These street lights cover residential areas, community roads, and rural roads, achieving standardized green lighting for different road environments.
Sri Lanka has a typical tropical monsoon climate, with high temperatures and humidity year-round. The average annual temperature is approximately 28°C, and the surface temperature in coastal areas can reach 32-35°C in summer. The unique local climate and road conditions present numerous challenges to outdoor street lighting systems:
Unstable grid & high wired construction cost
Local municipal power supply is unstable with frequent power cuts. Traditional wired street lights require trenching, cabling and municipal approval, with high overall cost and long construction cycle, which is not suitable for scattered rural and farm road reconstruction.
Complex shelter & low charging efficiency
Rural roads and farm areas are covered with dense vegetation and tree shade. Conventional integrated solar lights with fixed solar panels cannot adapt to sheltered environments, leading to low power generation efficiency.
High temperature & high humidity aging risk
Long-term high-temperature and humid air accelerates the aging of ordinary lamp housings, electronic components and batteries, easily causing lamp failure and shortened service life.

2. GCOTS Targeted Customized Solution — SL-CY15 Split Solar Street Light
Given Sri Lanka's hot, humid tropical climate and diverse road conditions, GCOTS selected the SL-CY15 split-type solar street light as a customized solution for this large-scale project.
2.1 Off-grid Plug-and-play — Zero Construction Cost for Scattered Roads
Full off-grid solar power supply requires no cable laying, road excavation or complex construction procedures. It is extremely suitable for scattered rural roads, remote farm roads and existing community road renovation, greatly shortening the project cycle and saving a lot of labor and material costs.
2.2 Adjustable Split Structure — Adapt to Complex Shady Environment
Different from integrated solar lights with fixed panels, the SL-CY15 adopts an independent split design of solar panel and lamp body. The solar panel bracket can be adjusted freely in multiple angles. Even in farm and rural areas with dense tree shade, the panel can be precisely aligned with the best sunlight direction to maximize solar absorption, effectively solving the problem of insufficient charging caused by vegetation shelter.
2.3 Intelligent Light Control Management — Low Power & Stable Operation
Features a built-in intelligent light control system that automatically turns on at dusk and off at dawn. It intelligently adjusts power based on ambient brightness, reducing unnecessary power consumption, alleviating battery cycle stress, and ensuring stable lighting output throughout the night.
2.4 High-temperature & Humidity Resistant Configuration — Anti-aging for Tropical Weather
The lamp body is made of high-strength die-cast aluminum, offering excellent heat dissipation performance. It quickly dissipates internal heat, reducing the battery's operating temperature in high-temperature environments. The built-in high-temperature resistant lithium battery supports stable charging and discharging at temperatures above 35℃, effectively suppressing battery degradation and significantly extending the overall lifespan of the lamp. The entire lamp achieves an IP65 waterproof and dustproof rating, perfectly coping with heavy rain and high humidity environments.

3. Project Operation Effect & Customer Achievement
After comprehensive installation and operation, 1200 GCOTS SL-CY15 solar streetlights achieved stable and uniform lighting coverage in all project areas, including villa communities, residential streets, and rural roads.
The split-type adjustable structure solved the lighting problem on dark roads, while the high-temperature resistant and corrosion-resistant design adapted to the local tropical maritime climate. Its superior rain resistance completely prevented lighting failures during the rainy season. The zero-wiring, maintenance-free design significantly reduced the post-maintenance burden on local property management departments.
With its reliable product performance and professional project matching capabilities, GCOTS gained full recognition and high praise from local clients, successfully completing this large-scale, multi-scenario solar lighting upgrade project in Sri Lanka.
