1. Project Overview & On-site Difficulties

This project is a street lighting project for a large residential villa community in Dubai, UAE. Phase 1, completed in 2024, includes 2,970 integrated solar streetlights.

Dubai, located near the Persian Gulf, has a typical harsh maritime desert climate, presenting significant challenges for outdoor street lighting. The client needed to provide stable, maintenance-free, and corrosion-resistant solar lighting for the roads, sidewalks, and driveways within the villa community, while avoiding the high costs and complex installations of traditional wired streetlights.

Main site challenges:
  • Strong coastal gale wind: Persistent gusts and seasonal strong winds in coastal Dubai. Traditional split solar street lights with large independent external solar panels have a huge windward area, which is prone to shaking, bracket deformation and even panel damage in strong wind.

  • Persian Gulf salt spray corrosion: The coastal air contains a large amount of salt particles. Long-term salt mist erosion will cause ordinary lamp housings to rust, peel and fade, and corrode internal structural gaps, resulting in water ingress and lamp failure.

  • Extreme high temperature climate: Dubai’s summer temperature often exceeds 45°C. Direct long-term sunlight will cause the battery temperature to rise sharply, accelerate lithium battery aging, and greatly reduce battery service life and overall lamp stability.

  • Intense UV radiation & sandstorm weather: Year-round strong ultraviolet rays easily age and crack ordinary lamp shells and lens. Frequent sandstorms cause dust accumulation on solar panels, which reduces power generation efficiency and affects night lighting duration.

  • High-cost municipal wiring construction: Villa community road reconstruction involves road excavation, cable laying and municipal approval. The construction cycle is long and the comprehensive cost is extremely high, making traditional wired lighting uneconomical.

2. GCOTS Targeted Customized Solution

Aiming at Dubai’s coastal high-temperature, windy, salt-corrosive and sandy harsh environment, GCOTS specially recommends the SL-AIO-CH Chenhui series compact all-in-one solar street light for this villa community project. Different from bulky split solar lights and ordinary low-cost integrated lights, this model adopts environment-targeted structural design to completely solve local climate pain points.

2.1 Ultra-compact Integrated Structure — Perfect Wind Resistance for Coastal Gale

The whole lamp adopts an all-in-one integrated design, with solar panel embedded and integrated with the lamp body, no external protruding bracket and independent solar panel. The windward area is extremely small, completely avoiding the hidden danger of swinging and damage of split solar lights in strong coastal wind. It can operate stably for a long time under Dubai’s persistent gale weather.

2.2 Professional Salt-spray Anti-corrosion Design — Adapt to Gulf Marine Climate

The lamp surface is sprayed with high weather resistance and anti-corrosion paint, which effectively resists salt mist erosion in Persian Gulf coastal air. It prevents metal shell rust, paint peeling and color fading, ensures long-term stable appearance and structural sealing performance, and adapts to perennial marine corrosive environment.

2.3 Bottom Battery Compartment Layout — Solve High-temperature Battery Aging Problem

Different from ordinary lamps with batteries arranged on the top, the battery compartment of SL-AIO-CH series is designed at the bottom of the lamp body, avoiding direct exposure to strong sunlight. It effectively isolates high-temperature heat source, reduces battery operating temperature, inhibits lithium battery aging and capacity attenuation, and greatly prolongs battery and whole lamp service life under Dubai’s 45°C extreme high temperature.

2.4 UV-resistant & Anti-dust Structure — Adapt to Strong UV & Sandstorm

The lamp shell and PC lens adopt UV-resistant raw materials, which will not crack, yellow or age under long-term strong ultraviolet radiation. The smooth integrated body structure is not easy to accumulate sand and dust. The solar panel keeps high light transmittance and power generation efficiency, and the later cleaning and maintenance are extremely simple, reducing community operation cost.

2.5 Off-grid Plug-and-play Design — Zero Wiring Construction Cost

Full off-grid solar power supply, no need for road excavation, cable laying and complicated construction procedures. It greatly shortens the project construction cycle, saves a lot of labor and material costs, and is the most cost-effective lighting solution for villa community internal roads and pedestrian paths.

2.6 Intelligent Multi-mode Control — Low Power Consumption & Long Standby

Equipped with light control, timing control, remote control and radar human body induction functions. It automatically adjusts brightness according to ambient light and pedestrian activity, reduces unnecessary battery loss, relieves battery cycle pressure in high-temperature environment, and further improves the stability and durability of the whole lamp.

3. Project Delivery & Operational Achievements

All GCOTS SL-AIO-CH all-in-one solar street lights have been installed and put into operation in the Dubai coastal villa community. Targeted structural and technological design perfectly solves local pain points such as strong wind damage, salt spray corrosion, high-temperature battery aging and sandstorm power reduction.

The lamps maintain stable lighting output all night, with uniform illumination and high safety. The anti-corrosion and anti-aging performance perfectly adapts to Dubai’s marine desert compound climate. The zero-wiring construction greatly saves project investment, and the low-maintenance design reduces later operation pressure for the property. The project effect is highly recognized by the client.

Therefore, in January of this year (2026), the client added another 2,000 of these lights, bringing the total to nearly 5,000.
